Which countries have the most highly-cited researchers?
It is worth mentioning that the US, with more than 2500 highly-cited researchers, stays on top, and China has second place. The numbers for these two countries compared to the other ones are significantly different. Clarivate identified 6,636 individual researchers from institutions in 59 countries/regions who fulfill the characteristics of being highly cited in their fields of research. There is a general definition to be identified as “highly cited” scientist, which is “having a high number of citations to be among the top 1% in your own field(s) based on your previous publications in the Web of Science™ over a specific timeline”.
